When a developer needs a model to find the right information, Chroma is usually what they install first. The open-source database is downloaded more than 15 million times a month and comes built into LangChain and LlamaIndex.

Now it is building upward: Chroma Cloud for production workloads, Context-1, an open search-agent model, and Foundation, a memory layer for AI agents. The bet is that as models commoditize, the value moves to whatever holds an organization's context.
